The wine has a range of clonal selections as well as multiple rootstock and training methods at this site. This is wonderfully pure, showing a light stony essence as well as bright red fruits with citrus rind, blood orange zest, charcuterie and stony minerals. “Tasted in barrel last year, the 2023 Grenache Orselli Estate Vineyard finished wine is as good as expected, including 6% Carignan, 4% Syrah, 3% Mourvèdre, and 2% Cinsault, all destemmed and native-fermented in concrete. Meaty garrigue and iron complement prettier aspects of lavender and fresh plum, the fruit densely layered around medium-bodied concentration, enduring acidity, and spicy undertones. There are only 133 cases of this well-balanced, complex, and age-worthy wine.”

“A barrel sample of the 2024 Grenache Orselli Estate Vineyard is as good as the 2023, though sourced from different clones, including some Alban Rayes clones for the first time. Nearly all Grenache, it offers a more substantial, muscular style, with plenty of meat on the bones and a lasting note of tomato leaf. Native-fermented in concrete 21% whole-cluster, it enjoyed an 18-month élevage in 38% new French oak. This will be a beauty on release.”
